Rule of Life Lesson #137: Always have the guts to ask.

A few years ago, I was in a Bible study and shared with my table I was funding a personal grant to an entrepreneur to help them on their way. Being an entrepreneur myself, I know how incredibly hard the journey can be, especially just starting.

After the study, the table leader came up to me and said, “Tisha, there’s a book I’d really like you to read,” and she handed me The Go-Giver: A Little Story About a Powerful Business Idea written by Bob Burg and John David Mann.

I took it home and was hooked finishing the entire book within one day while lounging on my living room sofa. The stories and the principles made so much sense broken down into The Five Laws of Stratospheric Success – Value, Compensation, Influence, Authenticity and Receptivity.

Fast-forward several months later, I was speaking on stages about purposeful networking. These same principles made their way into my talk every single time to express to the audience that THIS is how the world should live – as go-givers putting giving at the forefront and experiencing how everything else in life falls into place without any quotas or expectations.

Then last week, on LinkedIn, my connection, Elizabeth, shared a post and quoted The Go-Giver tagging Bob Burg. I commented on her post sharing that The Go-Giver is my favorite book and to my surprise, Bob commented back saying, “Thank you, Tisha, I’m honored you like the book!”

I was speechless. I was so blown away that the author of the book I’ve read over and over gifting copies to friends was having a conversation online with me! You could say I was a little starstruck.

Tisha and The Go-GiverWe took it to a direct message to which I created this post about my “WOW” experience with Bob

to last week when I sat here wondering whether Bob would be interested in being a guest on my weekly live stream #tishatalks LIVE @ 4:45.

I figured what could it hurt to ask?

I got back on LinkedIn messages, wrote a message to Bob asking if he would and minutes later, I GOT A YES!!!

This Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at 4:45pm PST, I have the honor and privilege of interviewing the author of the book that literally changed my whole being and way of thinking simply by starting a conversation.

I’m beyond grateful my table leader passed this book onto me years ago so that I could pass the message on and teach others what it means to be a go-giver. Tune in LIVE or catch the replay on my Youtube channel and never forget this rule of life lesson – always have the guts to ask.
